Day One Hāpai te Haeata's Launch and Fundraiser Party: How We Have Evolved and How We Are Continuing Our Legacy of Making Stories for a Better Tomorrow
On Wednesday 3 April, Day One will be hosting a launch event at Te Pou Theatre. Previously known as The Outlook for Someday, we will be celebrating our long-awaited new look and filling you in on how we have evolved over the past 17 years.
On Wednesday 3 April, Day One will be hosting a launch event at Te Pou Theatre. Previously known as The Outlook for Someday, we will be celebrating our long-awaited new look and filling you in on how we have evolved over the past 17 years. We are equally excited to introduce to you our new ‘How To’ online learning hub, a series of videos and resources designed to teach filmmaking skills. Tickets are $25 each to help building this resource!
From live entertainment, free kai and drinks, spot prizes, valuable chats with alumni and potential opportunities to rub shoulders with industry professionals, this is a great space for our rangatahi filmmakers to dream big.
Whether rangatahi are interested in writing, music, directing, photography, acting and all things filmmaking, Day One Hāpai te Haeata illuminates screen storytelling pathways for all levels of interest ranging from rangatahi aged 4 to 29.
On offer on Wednesday 3 April at Te Pou Theatre:
- Meet the Day One whānau and learn about our upcoming initiatives, their new names and our mission to equip rangatahi with all the tools to tell their own stories.
- Get a sneak peek at our upcoming How To project. How To is a series of quick and witty educational videos, along with resources, which aim to teach youth about all things film related. The more we can produce, the better! More videos amount to rangatahi becoming increasingly familiar and comfortable with filmmaking, and ultimately the creation of more screen stories for a better tomorrow!
- Learn more from the firsthand stories of our alumni - Angela Cudd, Mia Maramara and Bala Murali Shingade. Aspiring filmmakers will no doubt find some gems in these talks.
- Entertainment featuring live music performance by Hannah “Hun” Lynch and MC Esaú Allemora.
We are happy to be creating meaningful connections between filmmakers and their peers, industry professionals and future film stars! Whether you are a seasoned producer, a teacher, an aspiring filmmaker, or a cinephile, we want you to be part of this journey with us!

We’re passionate about uplifting and amplifying youth voices. From day one of coming up with ideas, to day one on set, through to day one of film festival distribution - we’re here to help you to develop, create impact, and DO film.
