Announcing our new Director...

Day One Hāpai te Haeata

We are thrilled to announce Day One Hāpai te Haeata new Director Anna Rose Duckworth who joins our Executive Director Chris Widdup in this leadership duo.

NEW APPOINTMENT! We are thrilled to announce… Anna Rose Duckworth is now a Director at Day One Hāpai te Haeata.

Anna is likely to be a familiar face as she joined the Day One team in 2020, and has been an enthusiastic cheerleader of our emerging storytellers. As a Capricorn Taurus Taurus, she’s exceptionally driven and productive as a leader. Anna believes in the power of moving images to evoke empathy and make the world a better place. Aww!

"I'm stoked that I get paid to do what I love most, which is helping people to achieve their goals. I've always been super connected to this kaupapa at Day One Hāpai te Haeata and I'm really looking forward to helping shape the organisation and expanding our awesome community of storytellers!" - Anna Rose Duckworth, Director.

Anna has worked in film and television for a decade, both in New York City, and Tāmaki Makaurau. Anna has written and directed several short films, including NZFC-funded Pain, screened as part of the 2020 NZIFF’s NZ’s Best programme and went on to be selected at over 30 international festivals. Recent highlights include being awarded an NZWG Seed Grant to develop the feature PUT A BABY IN ME about queer motherhood and winning the People’s Choice Award for her romcom short JUST KIDDING I ACTUALLY LOVE YOU (2023) at Show Me Shorts Film Festival 2023.

“Day One Hāpai te Haeata is very fortunate to have a filmmaker and communications professional of Anna’s calibre stepping into a leadership role. As someone who has worked across most aspects of our work and has been instrumental in helping to steer the organisation strategically and creatively over the last few years, rangatahi filmmakers can be assured of amazing things to come.” - Executive Director Chris Widdup

A huge congratulations again to Anna who joins our Executive Director Chris Widdup in this leadership power duo. We are so excited to see what the future holds for us!

Pakipaki for Anna!
